Gabor Cup Regatta

The first of our open regattas will be the Gabor Cup Regatta on Sunday, May 25th with registration starting at 12:00 noon and the first gun at 1:00 p.m. This event is open to all LMCC members with a sailboat of any kind and trophies for the first three positions will be awarded. Following the racing there will be a Jimmy Buffet Parrot-Head party. Have a cheeseburger in paradise and smell those shrimp as they’re startin’ to boil!

A 2008 Junior Sailing School is being planned as well as Adult Sailing Classes. Those interested in the Junior Sailing School (for ages 10 to 14) should contact Jan Oldridge at 729-3105 or Chuck Chute at 726-3307. Adult Sailing Lessons, can also be arranged. These programs are very popular and have limited enrollment, so call early to sign up.

Okners create new LMYC sign!

Don and Madeleine Okner have come to our rescue once again. This time they created a lovely new sign to replace the one stolen earlier this summer. It looks just like the old one, only better. A MILLION THANKS TO THE OKNERS!

The Gabor Cup Regatta, held on May 25th was a terrific event, especially because of the party that followed. The wind was light and variable but we had enough air to complete two races. Five Lightnings, three Snipes, one Sunfish and a boat skippered by Joe Martin from Beach Three competed for trophies.
